Freelance Director/Acting Coach

Jay D. Brock is a freelance director and acting coach currently working in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. Jay began working as a theater professional over ten years ago in California, and has recently expanded his directorial work into the world of opera. He enjoys the unique challenges of both cutting edge and classic pieces, and is always excited to take on the specific challenges of new works.

Jay particularly enjoys directing projects that present an opportunity to facilitate a conversation with the imagination. He believes that this conversation begins with the director and the other collaborating artists and should then carry over into the relationship of the actor and the audience; creating relevant, and dynamic work. Jay utilizes inspiration and ideas from all artistic sources and seeks collaboration with artists from every discipline. The goal being to boldly transform space and people to create worlds on stage that engage the imagination of an audience. His directorial style often includes the use of stylized movement, puppetry, shadow work, original music, and multi-media.

Jay is currently the artistic director of Limelight Theatre a professional musical theatre in Rockville, Maryland.
